Ancient Russia, XII century, the period of fierce internecine struggle of the princes of the Rurik family. The young Prince Andrey Bogolyubsky, the son of Yuri Dolgoruky and grandson of Vladimir Monomakh, returns home from Byzantium, where he spent several years.
